The Israeli president says he does not believe that a war with Iran is necessary at present and tougher sanctions will do for now.
Shimon Peres repeated the allegations against Iran that the country was 'a threat not only to Israel but to the future of humanity and Israel had to take preventive measures to contain the threat'.
The Israeli president called for the imposition of tougher sanctions against Iran saying that 'sanctions have revealed themselves to be a very effective instrument. Sanctions, not war, did away with North Korea's nuclear weapons'.
Along with its main ally Washington, the Zionist regime accuses Tehran of running a covert nuclear weapons program, a claim the Islamic Republic has categorically denied.
