Iran N-fuel 'cannot be used in bombs' Press
TV Russian nuclear fuel producer TVEL says uranium supplied to Iran is not enriched enough to be used for nuclear weapons production. "Fuel for the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant will not exceed the uranium enrichment level achieved by the Iranians," said Mikhail Solonin, an aide to TVEL's president. "Inspection of fuel rod arrays [by IAEA inspectors] confirmed the enrichment of uranium-235 to lower than 5%," said Konstantin Grabelnikov, Deputy General Director of the Novosibirsk Chemical Concentrates Plant.
According to the UN nuclear watchdog, Iran has enriched uranium-235 to a level of 3.7% which cannot be used for producing nuclear weapons, RIA Novosti reported. Nuclear arms production requires an enrichment level of around 90%. The nuclear power plant in southern Iran is scheduled
to be launched in the near future.
